Basketball Game in Grade 8
After nearly two weeks’ competition, Anqing Foreign Language School’s Grade 8 boy students’ basketball game of the west campus got into the final phase, the contestants of which were Class 1, Grade 8 and Class 7, Grade 8 respectively. More noticeably, the former team was winning without defeat while the latter one rose abruptly based on their accumulated strength from failure to victories as a dark horse. Who would win the championship? Students all waited and expected the result anxiously.
In the first place, Class 7 kept a step ahead right after the jump ball. In the meantime, Class 1 evened the score swiftly. Eight minutes into the first half, Class 7 gained a 7-point advantage over Class 1 by successive team offense. However, Chen Daochang from Class 1 shot a 3 pointer to narrow the scoring gap into the hollow net. Thus, the first half concluded with the score of 14 all.
In the second place, Class 1 continued their powerful performance to set the points apart at the beginning of the second half. Nevertheless, Class 7 was not reconciled to defeat as a dark horse. Under the leadership of Xu Weiyang& Hu Duo, Class 7 bridged the gap by means of striking back. Afterwards, the two teams took alternative leads.
In the third place, Wang Min’ao from Class 1 ran with the ball at his feet, causing fouls by students in Class 7 during the last minute of the match. Concerning the fact that Class 7 had already amassed 7 fouls, hence Class 1 conducted penalty shot, making one of two free throws& leading the score 29 to 28. Subsequently, Class 7 initiated team offensive, yet without success. Therefore, with the referee’s whistle, the game concluded with the ultimate victory of Class 1.
To conclude, students demonstrated friendship& style during the two weeks’ match, further enhancing cohesive power of their classes. Other than that, they advanced their basketball prowess and cultivated characters& morals of never yielding.
